Charles Campbell graduated from Bowdoin College in 2017 with a B.A. in German Literature. His honors thesis challenged the legacy of Frank Wedekind as a progressive, countercultural icon and examined Wedekind’s influence on the early work of Bertolt Brecht. He has also explored the ideas of anxious masculinity, the development of sexology, performativity, queer sexuality, and canon formation. He then spent 2017-2018 in Dresden on a Fulbright English teaching assistantship. Current research interests include the intersection of adaptation theory and queer studies, as well as the function of adapting narratives to other media as a form of critique.
